VERTICAL CHESS BOARD
- Cut your wood into these piecesCut plywood board 14 Wide x 28 LongCut wood strips 14 Long need a total of 7 piecesCut wood strips 29 Long need a total of 2 piecesCut wood strips 14 Long need a total of 2 pieces
- Tape off your projectCreate your vertical lines to tape off. To do this you need to measure from left to right on the width of the board. Stating at the left measure 1-3/4 mark it with a line then measure another 1-3/4 and mark that line do this a total of 7 times.Create your horizontal lines to tape off. To do this measure from top to bottom on the length of the board. Starting at the top measure 3-1/4 mark it with a line then measure 3-1/2 and mark that line this is to include the spacing you need for the wood strip continue this for the remainder times for a total of 7 linesTape off all your vertical lines and start painting your panels painting every other vertical lineTape off all your horizontal lines and start painting your panels
- Once all panels have been painted use the Testors 1261T glosscoat spray to spray the entire board. This will give a shine to your colors and help protect from chipping or dulling.
- Stain all of your wood strips with CreateFX 79308 rust stain. After stain is dry use CreateFX 79500 stain to put a clear gloss finish on your wood this will give it a nice sheen and help to protect the wood from chipping and damage.
- Lay the chess board flat and use Testors 3505X wood glue to glue the wood strips to the board let each strip dry completely before moving onto the next strip. Follow this until complete.
- Take wood strips and place them around the chess board. Glue the 4 corners together and let set until dry. Use 1 finish nails to nail the corners together and to nail the chess board to all 4 sides of the frame.
- Use wood putty to fill any nail holes and stain those parts to touch up holes. Add hanger to back and hang from the wall.
